Since 2007, marijuana seizures in the United States Post Office have increased by 400%. "There is no better way to ship drugs right now," said San Diego Police Chief William Lansdowne. "It's going up all the time." While marijuana shipments have increased, seizures of other drugs have decreased.
Postal workers found what appeared to be canned corn, but upon inspection, discovered marijuana. The package was professionally sealed and was even the same weight the label said it would be.
Despite the growing number of seizures, the number of inspectors have remained the same due to the financial situation of the USPS. However, with the assistance of some K-9's, they've still managed to put more than a thousand people to jail.
