King Charles II used to wear a wig made of his favorite mistress' pubic hair!

When the hedonistic Charles II visited Scotland back in the 1600s, he was taken to copious drinking parties, especially at Castle Dreel in Fife. Years later, he sent his Scottish bros his wig which was woven from his favourite lovers’ pubic hair as a gift. The plucking of pubic hair as souvenirs was a tradition amongst libertines of the 17th century.

To make the matter weirder, the wig was treasured in Fife. Like, not ironically, but genuinely beloved like it was some kind of uber-sentimental mixed tape hand-crafted by Fife’s long time crush. It was passed on to younger generation after the Castle’s keeper, Earl of Moray, passed away. It even came to be used in the rites of a local sex club called the Beggar’s Benison and there was a belief that it would pass on the royal virility.
