What This Team Of Firefighters Worked Hard To Save Will Have You Cheering

When two horses, Elvis and Alfie, decided to have some fun and escape from their field overnight, they had no idea how much trouble they were about to get into. In the morning, their owner first found them in the garden, and had to calmly chase them down. While in search of adventure, the two horses came across an old pool. Alfie, the big boy, fell into the deep end. That’s when things got scary.

Alfie splashed about, desperately paddling to keep his big body afloat.

Elvis fell in after his pal. Their owner, Roisin Talbot, was able to keep calm and guide them both to the shallow end.

But there were no steps for them to climb, so they were stuck!

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service’s Animal Rescue Team was called to the scene.

They began by draining a good portion of the pool water, which made Alfie quite anxious.

While Elvis stayed calm, Alfie was sedated and hoisted out of the murky water.

It was quite a feat!

The whole crew managed to pull him to safety.

After that, they had to get Elvis out of there.

He was only lightly sedated, since he seemed to be taking the whole ordeal better than his friend.

Alfie was up and ready to be reunited with his bud!

Luckily, everyone made it out without a scratch.

When it was time for the whole rescue team to leave, they basically formed a parade.

The vet checked both of the curious boys out afterwards, and they were a little shaken up, but otherwise totally fine. Talbot was so thankful for the rescue team’s efforts. It can’t be easy to lift two giant, nervous creatures out of a murky pool! It’s wonderful to see such a happy ending to a story that could have easily gone wrong.

Daisy The Horse Was Stuck In A Tiny Hole...You Have To See Her Incredible Rescue

Recently in Northern Canada, the Thiessen family got really worried when their horse, Daisy, didn’t come around for feeding time. They started searching for her on the property…when they found her, they became extremely worried by the tight spot she’d gotten herself into.

They called their neighbors, a tow truck, and a veterinarian to the scene to get the poor draft horse out of the small well she was stuck in.

She’d been trapped for a while, and it was pretty tight.

They gave her some pain meds, but no sedatives, since she seemed to be pretty calm. She really didn’t have any room to move around, which, in the end, most likely prevented further injuries.

Luckily, neighbor Chantelle Thompson was there to keep the family calm while Brad’s Towing worked with Corman Park Veterinary Services to pull Daisy up and out of the hole.

Thanks so much to Brad’s Towing and to Corman Park Veterinary Services for being part of the team that assisted Daisy, our neighbours draft horse, in her traumatic rescue. Couldn’t have done it without you. Was a long few hours, which felt like days to some, but everyone worked together and got her out. Before and after pictures in comments.

It took Daisy about an hour to stand up again after the whole ordeal.

She was exhausted, tense, and very sore. Thankfully, the vet found no internal or external injuries upon examination. For now, the tough lady is taking muscle relaxers and is spending a lot of time resting.

But there’s no reason to doubt that she’ll be ready to return to her draft horse duties of pulling happy kids around in a sleigh through the snow come winter.

It’s so great to see so many people come together in a time of need. We all know how easy it is to get emotional and overwhelmed when your (very large!) baby is in a tight spot.

A Foal Was Found On The Brink Of Death...But What Happened After Is A Miracle

Abandoned at only four months old, this foal was barely hanging on when rescuers from Catley Cross Veterinary Clinic found him earlier this year. They brought him to their facility and discovered the little guy was suffering from dehydration, hypothermia, pneumonia, and lice.

There was a strong chance he wouldn’t make it, but that didn’t stop them from trying.

This was how he was found in February this year, collapsed and clearly starving.

Now going by Gizmo, they warmed him up with heating blankets and began treating his many ailments.

It was a lot for such a young cutie to fight, but they knew he wouldn’t give up on them.

Gizmo’s treatments included blood transfusions, bandaging, special diets, and antibiotics — all of which don’t come cheap.

However, the facility was happy to find themselves flooded with donations from those who hoped to help Gizmo get back on his hooves.

Of course, it wasn’t too surprising for the staff to discover how many other hearts this brave boy had touched, since they were all totally smitten with him, too!

Over the months, his strength continued to grow while his wounds healed.

Pretty soon, Gizmo was able to stand on his own and they gradually trained him.

He began to enjoy nice long walks along the grounds, greeting other horses and building his strength.

And today, you’d barely recognize this beautiful boy as the same one they found six months ago!

In fact, a few days ago, he won both the Youngstock RSPCA Class and Championship at Equifest, crowning him the Rescue Horse of the Year.

Take a look at one of his award-winning performances here:

Of course, he was already the champion in their hearts, but those shiny ribbons and medals do look good on him. The judges were so swept away by Gizmo’s incredible transformation, and according to Carolyn Wyse, a surgeon at the facility, some were even in tears as they awarded him the prize.

Gizmo was permanently adopted by Halstead Veterinary Clinic where he’ll continue to live his happiest, healthiest life.

You Won't Believe Your Eyes When You See Who Firefighters Pulled From A Sinkhole

Nature can be beautiful, but it can also be terrifyingly dangerous. If you haven’t already figured it out, Mother Nature is a force to be reckoned with. Sinkholes, which are pockets in the earth’s surface layers, are some of our planet’s most unpredictable phenomenons, sometimes taking entire houses down with them. They can form after heavy rains wash away weak layers under the surface, or they can simply develop over time.

Sometimes sinkholes claim totally helpless creatures, and you won’t believe who firefighters had to rescue in this particular instance…

Earlier this month, Arlington, TX, experienced some flooding…

And a sinkhole formed right underneath a local family’s driveway.

But they didn’t realize it until a completely unsuspecting, helpless animal fell through the earth’s surface.

For two hours, three rescue teams and a backhoe worked together to free Ginger, a horse owned by Carolyn Putney for the past 25 years.

Instinctively, she tried to kick herself free, but that only made her sink further into the earth.

But with a lot of teamwork…

About 15 firefighters were able to hoist the majestic animal out of the four-foot-deep hole with some strategically placed straps.

She had a couple scratches on her legs and was exhausted from the harrowing experience…

But after she was rushed to the vet for a checkup and treatment, she and Putney were told that her recovery would be a quick one!

Now she’s safe and sound, above the earth’s surface, where she belongs!

Thank goodness she made it out with just a few scratches. These men and women truly went above and beyond the call of duty!
