If You Love Food Or Design, You Need To See This Instagram Account

If you love food and pretty things, then Tal Spiegel’s Instagram account, Desserted in Paris, is about to become your favorite thing on the Internet. Based in Paris, Spiegel is both a pastry chef and a graphic designer.

Not only can he create seriously mouthwatering pastries, but he can also make them look completely gorgeous. The result is one of the most delicious Instagram accounts out there. Here’s a small sampling of his work.

A pistachio-cherry pastry that looks like a flip-flop.

A gorgeous chocolate design.

A little lemon sun.

A raspberry meringue.

Another chocolate pastry (because you can never have too many).

We’re not sure exactly what this one is, but we like it.

Snapshots of food uploaded to Instagram can get old really fast, but these are too good to be annoying. It’s also kind of cool that his shoes often make it into the shot. Shoes and food are both popular Instagram subjects, after all. Combining them into one picture might sound awful, but Spiegel makes it work.

A lime and strawberry tart.

Some graphic eclairs.

We’re glad there’s photo evidence, because they probably taste as good as they look.

It would be so hard to eat this!

Pastries don’t have to be bright to be deliciously beautiful, though.

This one is like a tiny, edible collage.

We’re the first people to make fun of food photos on social media (even though we’re all admittedly guilty of taking them), but when the food looks this good, we can’t blame anyone for snapping a quick photo.

It looks like modern art, but this is bourbon vanilla buttercream, salted caramel, and praline.

This Doctor Proves That Helping Patients Takes More Than Medical Training

Xin Er (not her real name) was born with a heart condition that required surgery at Zhejiang University Hospital. This was a lot for the little girl to take in, and as the event approached, she became more and more anxious. Upon entering the operating room, she immediately started crying.

That’s when Shi Zhuo, Deputy Director of Cardiac Surgery, stepped in. Not only was he the man who performed the life-saving surgery, but he was also the one who calmed her down before it began.

Before entering the operating room, Xin Er started crying in fear.

She just wanted her dad, so cardiac surgeon Shi Zhuo comforted her before the operation.

He showed her some cartoons on his phone, which calmed her down and quelled some of her fears about the surgery.

These photos were taken by anesthetist Jin Ziying, who says that the surgery was successful and that Xin Er is recovering well. She’s expected to be released this week. Frightened children (and adults) are nothing new to the surgical team. They understand the anxiety that comes with undergoing major surgery.

“In reality, it doesn’t matter whether it’s a boy or a girl. They all get scared in the operating theater,” Dr. Shi said. “As parents, we understand that the children are scared, and we can appreciate the worry of the family.” When he saw the photos, Xin Er’s father was overwhelmed by the doctor’s kindness.

This Sweet Husky Comforts An Insanely Nervous Cat At The Vet -- My Heart Is Melting

Does anyone ever really like going to a doctor’s appointment? It could be an innocent checkup, but the fear of being poked and prodded can turn us all back into tiny babies wishing we had someone to hold our hand throughout the whole ordeal.

Luckily for this sweet kitten, her husky best friend was right there to give comforting cuddles when she got nervous at her vet appointment. The adorable pup is so worried about her little friend and just wants to keep her calm.

I’m sure the kitten will return the favor when it’s the husky’s turn on the table. These precious friends totally have each other’s back.

He Made A Wooden Box And Hid It Somewhere Remote For The Sweetest Reason

When it comes to wedding proposals, you can’t be too unique. After all, no one wants a boring, run-of-the-mill engagement.

Reddit user Shalamster knew this rule very well, and he made sure that when he proposed to his girlfriend, it would be perfectly tailored to her personality. To make the proposal perfect, he first created a handmade gift and incorporated it into a day of rock climbing — his girlfriend’s favorite activity.

Lovebirds thinking of taking the plunge into marriage: take notes from this guy.

It all started with some wood.

The wood was measured and cut.

It was then assembled into a small box.

Grooves were added for decoration.

A purple inlay was added for a colorful touch.

Then it was time to make a ring.

It took a few tries, but he was finally able to make one.

He even glued a (fake) diamond to it!

Hey, handmade beats a big rock any day.

The box was shellacked and sealed.

Adding foam made sure the ring was snug.

It gets better…

The other part of the setup was the placement of the box — way up on a high cliff.

When his girlfriend climbed up, she noticed it immediately, but didn’t know what it was.

Opening the box…

OMG!

Back on more secure ground, they had a formal proposal.

She said yes!

This is how you make a memorable proposal! The best part is that you don’t have to spend big bucks to show your love, either. Something handmade is always much more meaningful.
