Someone Dipped This Poor Cat In Concrete, But A Team Of Heroes Saved Him

When he showed up on the doorstep of Faye Richards’ house in Withywood, England, a cat named Grant was in horrible shape. Covered from head to toe in wet concrete, the poor cat would surely die if someone didn’t help him out.

When Richards took him to her local vet, she learned the heartbreaking truth about Grant’s situation.

By the time the vet could see him, the concrete on his back had already hardened. Because he was traumatized, doctors decided to forego a bath in favor of combing out everything they could.

“Most of his top coat was covered in concrete and it was matting together,” said vet Adam Sheridan. He ultimately decided to shave Grant.

When they investigated the pattern of the concrete, they learned that this was no accident. From what they could see, vets concluded that someone had intentionally covered poor Grant in concrete.

“Grant did not have any concrete on his paws and the pattern of the concrete on his fur looks like it was poured over him. Cats are not normally attracted to wet concrete. Because of the soft feel of it, they find it quite unsettling.”

At this point, Grant is getting plenty of rest and relaxation.

Since several members of the community have stepped up to adopt Grant, the veterinary team has decided to screen all prospects to ensure that the cat finds a great home.

Afraid Of Heights? Then This Super-Modern Cliffside House Isn't For You

Can you have a house that’s severe, modern, and stark while still being breathtaking and luxurious? According to Greek architects Laertis Antonios Ando Vassiliou and Pantelis Kampouropoulos of OPA Works, you certainly can. The pair have created designs for a home called Casa Brutale, a home built inside a sheer cliff face overlooking the Aegean Sea.

The exposed concrete and geometric forms of this house were created in what’s called the Brutalist style of architecture, which features a lot of massive, heavy forms and industrial materials. However, it’s also an interpretation of the surrounding landscape, and was inspired by the nurturing qualities of the Earth.

The whole house is nestled right into the rocks of the cliff.

The glass front looks right out over the sea — and the sharp drop below.

On top of the house (at ground level), there’s a pool. The pool also has a glass side, so you can feel like you’re swimming into infinity.

The pool above the house allows natural light to flood the home, and also acts as an insulating barrier.

Because the house is underground, the walls are also insulated against the elements, staying cool during the day and warm at night.

The interior is kept minimal.

There’s a mezzanine level for sleeping.

The pool above creates beautiful, moving patterns of light in the living space below.

From inside, you can see a stunning view of the ocean.

Vassiliou and Kampouropoulos describe their design as “a geometrical translation of the landscape” that seeks to create a harmonious balance between humans and the land. Right now, Casa Brutale is still in its concept phase, meaning it has yet to be built. So if you’ve been looking for a seaside beach house, perhaps in the Aegean, let Casa Brutale stay on your mind.
