Did you know the biggest winner on the braniac game show Jeopardy! Is a college drop out?
Don't get the wrong impression, though. Brad Rutter is a smart dude. He was on his high school's Quiz Bowl team where he is one of 19 people named to the National Academic Championship Hall of Fame. In case you missed it, there's a common thread here: The guy loves quizzes and game shows but isn't much for the typical education system.
He attended Johns Hopkins college where he studied English, but described himself as a "slacker" and quickly dropped out.
It wasn't a problem, though, after he became an undefeated champion on Jeopardy! In 2000. He is the biggest all-time money winner on the show, and the second-biggest winner for game shows in general.
He bested contestants in 20 regular season and tournament games. He even took on the IBM computer, Watson, where he finished third. That was his first time finishing behind a human opponent, but it didn't officially count since it was declared an exhibition match.
As of February 13, 2011, Jeopardy.com states his winnings as $3,255,102.
