Ranch Dog Rescue in California recently rescued a pup severely in need of medical attention.
When they found him, his mouth was clamped shut with rubber bands so tight that they left gashes down to the bone. Thankfully, he’s on the road to recovery, but the first five months of his life were full of neglect and abuse.
In addition to his snout scars, his back legs were shattered and required intense orthopedic surgery.
His former owner, a female marine, claimed that the pup, now named Kane, fell off the kitchen counter…
But then went on to say he got stuck in a door, which then turned into a baby gate. Vets all agree that the extent of injury is a clear indicator of abuse, and the convoluted alibis don’t help the defense in the ongoing investigation.
The lacerations on his snout may look like surface wounds…
But the original gashes went all the way down to the bone — the rubber bands were that tight.
His teeth were also rotting in his mouth, as it was constantly clamped shut.
As soon as Ranch Dog Rescue posted Kane’s picture and story, a huge influx of interest flooded their inbox…
Once Kane is 100% healed and has undergone physical therapy, he’ll leave his foster home and enter a loving forever home.
Just listen to him finally get to roar that famous Husky grumble!
What an improvement!!! Kane woke up singing the song of his people, ready for breakfast! I was able to catch a bit of it…

The investigation of Kane’s abuse is still ongoing at this point, but at least that means that the authorities are being thorough.
With that smile and tail-wag, we’re sure that he’ll find his forever home in no time at all!
