If you're someone who just loves lots of options and combinations, your favorite drink should probably be Fanta. Though it's not a huge beverage choice in the States, Fanta offers dozens (many dozens) of flavor options throughout the world—with Japan being the choice leader.
There are an astounding 67 flavors to choose from in Japan, some without any hint of what they might actually taste like. Some of the most mysterious ones include "The Mystery Fruit," "Genius Energy," and "Hip Hop." What the heck would "Hip Hop" taste like? A Lil' Wayne concert?
The oldest Japanese flavor is one of the more boring options, "Club," which has been around since 1958. The latest flavor that came out this year is an entire sentence: "Carefully selected mellow flavor Muscat."
Of all the strange flavors that exist, only one has been retired. In 2006, the ordinary, boring, typical flavor of "Raspberry" was permanently shelved. It's unclear why such a predictable fruit soda flavor would be retired, but live long the "R18" flavor!
