In Australia, one of Weird Al's parodies beat the original on the music charts. Guess which song won?

Weird Al Yankovic created a successful career by creating parodies of popular songs. One of his most famous parodies is "Eat It," a cover of Michael Jackson's popular track "Beat It."

"Eat It" was hugely popular in Australia, surging to the number one slot on the country's music charts. Amazingly, "Beat It" never made it past the 3rd position on the Australian charts. In 1984, Weird Al was more famous than Michael Jackson in the land down under!

"Eat It" won Weird Al a Grammy in the Best Comedy Recording category at the 1984 awards ceremony. "Eat It" was also granted status as a certified gold single by the RIAA.
