When musicians play a duet, their brainwaves sync up!

When artists are playing music together, their brainwaves synchronize! A study of 32 guitarists playing Sonata in G Major 60 different times in pairsshowed a clear synchronization.

The tests had the subjects hooked up to electrodes to monitor brain activity and had them play different parts of the song, taking turns setting the tempo. This test showed "interpersonal coordinated behaviour", meaning their ability to play well together. All paired subjects showed synchronization of brain wave activity!

Sänger, who lead the research, found that the brain waves were stronger and started before the music did in the subject who was 'leading' the duet. This is connected to the leaders decision on when to start the music. This just shows how important Jam Sessions are for musicians!

These studies are going to be expanded into sports, business and other group activities. They also found that personality traits affected the brainwaves. Personalities that are generally angry or envious can portray that kind of brainwave, while if you're open minded and kind, it will have a different connection during a duet.
