Babe Ruth is still a household name, long after his career has ended. He was so well payed at the end of his career that he helped raise the salaries of other players. But did you know that in 1930, when he was getting paid $80,000 a year, he was getting paid more than the President!
His reposone? "So what? I had a better year than he did." One of baseball's favorite names, Babe Ruth had 56 Major League Records. At a time when most careers hadn't even reached 300 home runs, Babe Ruth's career had hit 700! Bube Ruth is still in the top 10 for his .342 batting average, over 75 years later!
He was also the first batter ever in history to hit 30 home runs in one season, and then the first batter to hit 40, 50 and then 60 home runs in a single season. He's also in the top 10 for single-season leaders! Sammy Sosa is the most reoccuring player in the top 10, then Mark McGwire and Babe Ruth are tied for second.
Seems like he had quite a few years that were better than the presidents!
