The Lord of The Rings is not only an incredibly novel series, but also a cult classic cinematic trilogy thanks to director Peter Jackson.
The film trilogy made close to $3 BILLION globally, and won 17 Oscars, while being nominated for many more.
While the careers of everyone involved in the films has changed significantly since their appearance in the film, many of the actors went to odd lengths to audition for the roles of characters.
Elijah Wood, for example, created a makeshift Hobbit costume and recorded his audition tape in his backyard in the spring of 1999! He wanted the role that bad.
If he didn't get the role, his tape probably would have looked a little silly - but thankfully he was hired to play the memorable Frodo Baggins in all three films.
