The Japanese macaque is a terrestrial Old World monkey species native to Japan.
It’s also sometimes known as the snow monkey because it lives in areas where snow covers the ground for months each year; no primate, with the exception of humans, is more northern-living, nor lives in a colder climate.
These little fellows are some of the smartest and evilest primates they are. They are not really that aggressive, however, they can make your life a living hell if they steal your wallet or purse!
Macaques monkeys in Japan learned to steal purses and wallets, and take out the coins use them to buy drinks and snacks from vending machines.
You might want to be careful if you ever come to confront one of these little fellows!
