In the United States, there is a non-profit organization called the Animal Blood Registry-and yes, it is exactly what it sounds like. Now, animal blood transfusions can be critical, life-saving procedures. Fresh blood comes in handy when a cat gets into a car accident or crosses paths with rodenticide. There is a website dedicated specially to the donation of cat’s blood.
According to this site, the ideal cat blood donor is friendly, healthy, and clinically normal cat with a weight of 4.5kg or greater. Pregnant cats should not donate but previous pregnancy does not exclude donation. Donors should test negative for leukaemia virus and other immunodeficiency virus. Cats can either have type A, type B, or type C blood. Check the source for more info.
