This Dog Protected His Human, But Not At All In The Way You'd Expect

After a failed relationship and some other issues, 23-year-old Byron Taylor was ready to give up — for good. He fashioned a noose out of an old rope, and wrote a farewell letter to his family and friends. He was ready to end everything due to his crippling depression, even at such a young age.

But what he didn’t realize was that someone was looking out for him, someone who loved him more than he knew, someone who would do anything to keep him safe. That someone? His six-year-old mastiff, Geo. As he went upstairs to end his life, Taylor found Geo, normally a mellow, passive pooch, holding the noose in his mouth…

This is Geo, who is serious about protecting his human, both physically and emotionally.

While a dog chewing on a rope might not seem strange, Taylor believes that Geo knew what was happening. “In a way, I think Geo knew what I was going to do. They have a sixth sense about this kind of thing. He knew something was up,” he told the Daily Mail.

Hear Taylor’s incredible story in his own words.

Taylor got the help he needed, and is happily still with us. However, his lifesaving friend will not be able to protect him for much longer. Veterinarians found an aggressive tumor in Geo’s brain that is spreading quickly. He’s only been given a few weeks to live.

Needless to say, the news was devastating, but Taylor is determined to make Geo’s last days his happiest. He also has a GoFundMe page set up to collect donations for his pooch’s medical bills.
