About a year ago, a man fell on some hard times, losing his job and income. Because of this, he was forced to give up his beloved dog, Reece, and place him in a shelter. Needless to say, that’s pretty heartbreaking.
Reece stayed in the shelter for nearly a year as the man put his life back together, until finally, he was able to house a dog once again. And Reece was there waiting.

Things turned around for him recently and he just happened to look on our website and saw Reece was still at our Independence Campus, waiting. We were able to reunite them, and needless to say, they both were ecstatic to be together again. Keeping families together – just one of the reasons #whywerescue.

It’s stories like this that make you feel better about life and can even lift your mood. And if we’re talking about being put in a better mood, Reece and his human look like their lives are going to be much improved! The SPCA staff was thrilled, too. Not only was Reece getting a home, but he was going back to his home with his human.
