You hear stories about rescue shelters doing a world of good for poor, helpless dogs. But when that system fails, who can you rely on?
When Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue came across another rescue that was holding 46 dogs, mostly cocker spaniels, in unlivable conditions, they were the canine’s saving grace. Heart 2 Heart Cocker Rescue was in charge of an overheated barn in Virginia with two apparently careless workers responsible for tending to the dogs. Luckily, OBG was informed about the dire conditions.
These 46 dogs were left in excrement-covered cages…
With empty water bowls during the hot Virginia summer!
The dogs were kept in six sweltering rooms, with only one fan to cool all of them.
When board members of Heart 2 Heart found out about these terrible conditions…
They called Oldies But Goodies, in hopes that they would be able to properly care for the mistreated animals.
When OBG arrived at the scene, they were only granted access to the barn.
There they found these 46 pooches in terrible, painful shape.
However, the rescuers were not able to negotiate access into the home or the garage.
We can only hope that there were no more pups in need being held in those areas.
But for these guys…
They’re on their way to a brighter future.
While there were no medical or identification records on site…
Each dog is getting the care that it needs. This is Mocha, all checked out and cleaned up!
