Super Mario’s Chain Chomp character is cool and so are cats, combine the two and you’ve got a win-win. The owner and creative designer behind the cat furniture company CatastrophiCreations is a big fan of Mario, and as a result decided to pair a love for the classic video game idol with cat furniture. Meet the amazing Super Mario Chain Chomp monster cat bed!
The creative cat furniture company writes on Bored Panda, “I wanted to design something that could sit in a room as art, but also have a practical use.” The result is a cat bed more practical than any I’ve ever seen. In fact, the cat bed is attached to a box with discreetly placed hinges that open up and offer storage space–a great place to hide all of those cat toys.
Initially this cat bed was almost a litter box. “In my opinion most litter boxes are very ugly. I liked the thought of people showing off their litter boxes, rather than hiding them in some back room or closet. Once I started on the Chain Chomp, however, I realized it would be a little too small for a litter box. It was the perfect size for a covered bed, though!”
CatastrophiCreations admits it took a few moments of hesitation for their cats to warm up to the giant cat bed complete with huge teeth, but it is now their favorite spot to take a nap.

“I believe Super Mario Bros 3 is the best video game ever made. I’ve played around in the past with ideas to incorporate my favorite game in our furniture.” Cats and humans have both gone gaga for the awesome Mario-inspired creations, prompting the invention of their latest Super Mario Chain Chomp cat bed.
“I wanted the body to have a metal texture, so I used a product for making set props and then covered everything in many coats of epoxy.”
The eyes, teeth, and insides of the mouth include a gloss finish to give off a realistic ‘wet look.’
“For me Chain Chomp was a labor of love.”
Clearly, these cats greatly appreciate it!
