Typically, when people adopt dogs, they make sure to get a healthy, friendly, young puppy. The hope is that they get as much time with their dogs as possible, watching them grow from puppies into mature, old dogs.
Nicole Elliott is a little bit different, though. Not only did she buck this trend of adopting a young pup, she took in a terminally ill dog to give him the best life possible in his final days.
He was diagnosed with terminal cancer while at the Animal Ark Rescue.
She wanted to make sure Chester had a great last few days of life before the cancer took him.
She has been spoiling him mercilessly with treats, baths, and a loving home.
Nicole said that she wanted to give Chester normal dog experiences that he may have never had before.

Chester looks to be in a great and loving home for his last days on earth, and I don’t think he’d have it any other way. More people should follow in Elliott’s footsteps and rescue dying dogs to make their lives excellent for the short amount of time they have left.
And you never know…with soothing spa days to keep him going, Chester might have much more time with Elliott!
