You’ve seen it on boxes of chocolates, calendars, and maybe even that famous amusement park home to Mickey Mouse, but visiting the Matterhorn in person is something truly unforgettable. Recognized around the world as the proud symbol of Switzerland, it soars to 14,692 feet.

It’s also home to waterfalls that are among the highest and biggest in Europe, like Staubbach Falls located just above Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Oberland. It plunges for 1000 feet from a hanging valley that ends in overhanging cliffs above the Lütschine River.

Then there are spectacular lakes like Lake Brienz with turquoise and emerald waters that are sure to take your breath away. This lake’s beautiful colors result from glacial particles known as “rock flour” that reflect the blue-green sector of the light spectrum.
