You Might Think You're Looking At The Ocean's Sandy Floor, But Guess Again

Many animals have natural defense mechanisms. The porcupine has spikes all over its body to protect itself from predators. Armadillos can ball up into a nearly impenetrable shield. Octopi spit ink at their foes to confuse them. These are all truly impressive defensive traits, but none are nearly as impressive as the camouflage on this fish.

This aquatic stealth master can cleverly disguise itself to look like the sandy bottom of the ocean floor. With camouflage this good, the fish becomes nearly invisible.

Hmmm…what am I looking at here? I see nothin…Oh jeez! The floor just moved!

Watch below to see a clip of this extraordinary camouflage in action.

This little guy’s trick works almost as well as Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak. Its predators must be furious when they try and hunt it down. I bet it’s next to impossible to find them.
