Sometimes you just need to feel good when you look at art, and if a sense of bliss is what you need, look no further than the photography of Brittany Wright.
She creates beautiful, serene images of what she calls “food gradients,” which feature foods arranged by color into a wash of gorgeous hues.
Arranged against a white background, the beauty of each piece of food is evident. The photos showcase the diversity and individuality of every piece while still creating a cohesive whole.
Besides color variations, Wright is also interested in food’s growth and decay processes. She harvests many of her subjects herself from local farms near her Seattle home, and even grows some herself in her backyard. Photography is Wright’s job as well as her passion, and she’s worked with many farms and product companies.
Wright also enjoys cooking, and says her life goal is to learn to cook, “everything and anything.” She appreciates both the artistic and the scientific aspects of cooking, seeing it as both a creative opportunity and a study of food’s chemistry and reactions. And with photos like these, she makes it look amazing.
And it’s not just fruits and vegetables that get turned into pieces of art. Anything edible is fair game!
You can see more of Wright’s food photography on her website, where you can also check out her other portfolios. And for a regular dose of foodie bliss, you can follow her on Facebook and Instagram.
