When You See What This Baby Wildebeest Does, You'll Be Cheering In Your Seat!

Many people prefer not to think about the food chain out in the wild. We don’t like to ponder how those adorable big cats get their meals, or how a hyena survives on the plain. But this is the circle of life, and there’s no way around it.

Sometimes, though, survival of the fittest kicks in and the prey manages to escape the predator’s advances. Even more rarely, the prey gets out of the grasp of four separate predators…in one go.

Professional safari guide Garth Thompson caught this very occurrence through his lens while out in the Maasai Mara in Kenya.

Two cheetahs were the first to pin the baby wildebeest.

Then comes the hyena, who frightens off the two cheetahs in hopes that the captured wildebeest will be hers.

But this little guy wasn’t going down without a fight — he didn’t plan on becoming someone’s lunch today…

He narrowly escaped as one of the cheetahs and a jackal returned to try and take him down.

Success!

What an incredible and unexpected sight to see! While these predators were left with their tummies rumbling, they’ll find food elsewhere. This particular baby still had too much to do on his bucket list!

Life on the plain is truly incredible…
