They Took Some Styrofoam, Epoxy, And Paint And Made It Into An Epic Cat Bed

When you think of a cat bed a cardboard box probably comes to mind. You know, that one that your stereo came in (or that swanky bed you bought for Fluffy, yet she never uses it)?

That might be what most people think, but the folks over at CatastrophiCreations have a different idea of cat furniture. Instead of building more traditional feline products, they decided to approach their projects with some excitement…and perhaps even some quirkiness!

Inspired by a beloved childhood video game, they came up with the design for this cat bed…

They started out with a styrofoam sphere that was hollow in the center.

More styrofoam, cut into the shape of teeth…

Then they covered the spheres in matte to make them sturdier.

The top half went on and it was time to get some color on this thing!

They painted the cat bed black and added several layers of epoxy.

The teeth went in…can you guess what it is yet?

It’s the Chain Chomp Monster from Super Mario Bros. 3!

Looks like the cats don’t mind the teeth all that much!

This was originally supposed to be a litter box, but the design wasn’t conducive for cleaning, so they went with a quirky bed instead.

The box even doubles as a storage bin for cat toys! I hope these two cute cats don’t get any bigger or they may need to make a second video game character bed.
