When you have people over for dinner, you want a place where everyone can sit and feel comfortable, where your friends and family want to stay for hours, enjoying food, drinks, and good company. This is the ideal, but it’s not always the reality.
The reality of this couple’s dining room situation was pretty bleak. They felt they needed a serious upgrade. And once you see the change they made to their dining room, you’ll agree that this is one DIY project that was more than necessary. (You might be jealous, too.)
This was their dining area before the renovation: just an old table and plain-looking chairs.
They weren’t going to need those anymore.
To start things off, they built some wooden supports.
They were the basic framework for a built-in bench that would wrap around the table.
Doesn’t look like much now…
But once the framework was completed, it was time to start building the actual bench.
They attached a plywood base.
Then they added padding and covered the boards with black cloth.
They added more plywood to close the bottom sections of the bench.
A coat of paint made the bench area look clean and professional.
As if they didn’t put enough work into the space…they also built a new table!
And here’s the finished dining nook!

This certainly isn’t the bland dining room that they had before. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to get up from this spot to leave…that is, unless they were looking for more food or drinks!
