Most people don’t take a torch to their woodworking project (that is, unless they get frustrated and decide to get rid of it in a blaze of glory). But in this guy’s case, the torching was all a part of the process.
He’d found a wood pallet in pretty good shape at his work and decided to take it home. For this particular project, he wasn’t going to just use some wood stain to give it some character — no, he was going to use something a little less common — fire!
This was the pallet he salvaged from his work.
He began by taking it apart, removing the nails and sanding each board.
Two skinny pieces of wood screwed to the bottom held the refurbished pallet boards together.
Then it was time to get to torchin’!
He used a special setting on a blow torch to give the boards a charred look.
Next, he began adding some metal hardware…
Though a single tabletop looked good on its on, he decided to stack the two.
And here’s the finished product.
Who knew burnt wood could look so cool?!

I could have sworn this project was going to go up in flames…literally! Apparently you can do some pretty cool things with a blow torch. I may have to light some other furniture on fire to see how it turns out…
