Having an evil twin causes enough trouble as is, but as NBC Los Angeles reports, one woman was found to have an evil twin inside her own brain. After Yamini Karanam went into surgery for a suspected tumor, doctors were shocked to find an embryonic twin instead, complete with semi-formed teeth, hair, and bones. I guess it’s better than cancer, but still…ehk!

Karanam decided to get medical attention when she suddenly had trouble reading and carrying on conversation.

At first, doctors diagnosed the problem as a tumor. During surgery, however, they discovered that the object wasn’t a tumor, but a teratoma, or an embryonic twin.

It was Karanam herself who joked that the teratoma was her “evil twin” after it was successfully removed. She has since made a full recovery. Her surgeon, Dr Hrayr Shahinian, said that out of the 8,000 tumors he’s operated on, this is only the second teratoma he has encountered.

Cliche “evil twin” movie scenes aside, I’ve never heard of an evil twin secretly living inside of someone. It almost sounds too sci-fi to be real, but it totally is. I wonder if the teratoma had an evil-looking mustache, too.
