Michael Jackson, though he did not receive credit, wrote 'Do The Bartman' after calling the producers of 'The Simpsons' and offering to write Bart a number-one single.

The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, recorded 13 number one singles in the United States during his solo career, and has sold over 400 million records worldwide.

Jackson was also a fan of The Simpsons, the satirical show depicting a middle class American lifestyle. It parodies American culture, society, television, and many aspects of the human condition.

Jackson was especially a fan of the character Bart.

One night he called the producers and offered to write Bart a number-one single and do a guest spot on the show.

He ended up writing the song, titled 'Do The Bartman,' but because he was under contract with another label, he didn't receive credit for it.

To protect Jackson, executive producer James L. Brooks issued a press release in September 1990 stating that song was actually written by one of Jackson's friends, Bryan Loren. Loren was part of the songwriting, but it was mostly Jackson.

It was finally revealed that Jackson co-wrote and co-produced the song in 1998 when The Simpsons creator Matt Groening said as much at the 1998 World Animation Celebration convention in Pasadena, California.

Groening also said that it surprised him that no one realized that Jackson wrote the song, as he was a big fan of the show.

So was the King of Pop able to provide a number one single?

The song was never released as a single in the United States, but it received primarily good reviews and topped the charts in five countries, proving that his nickname was well earned.
