Hobbiton in New Zealand is a place where anyone can go to see what the shire is like. As the place where the films were shot, it is as authentic as you can get for fans of ‘The Hobbit’ or ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy.
The entire set had to be rebuilt for the filming of The Hobbit, as it had been taken down after the Lord of the Rings films were done. It is now a permanent attraction.
One of the biggest attractions offered at Hobbiton is the two-hour guided tour of the movie sets. Hobbiton and the tour include Hobbit Holes, The Green Dragon Inn, The Mill, the double-arched bridge, and other structures and gardens built for the films.
Part of the tour is a stop at the Green Dragon Inn, where each visitor is given a complimentary drink and time to sit, relax and soak up the atmosphere. Another place to grab refreshments is The Shires Rest Café.
