Granite Park Chalet is actually less of a hotel and more of a wooden cottage. The inn, located in Glacier National Park in Montana, is at an elevation of 6,693 feet above sea level. It was built in 1914 and is now considered a National Historic Landmark.

Despite the "chalet" in the title, there are only limited water facilities. There is a full-service kitchen, but guests are expected to make their own meals.

As well as being rustic, the cottage is also remote. There are only three trails which lead to it: The Loop Trail, the Swiftcurrent Trail, and the famed Continental Highline Trail. All of these trails are for hikers and horseback only, with no vehicle access provided.

There are other inns like this as well, many of which are also in National Parks. There is one in California, one in Yosemite, and even one in the Grand Canyon. These are all built with hikers in mind, so don't go looking to book your next relaxing vacation at any of these.
