Veterans Day is a holiday to celebrate people who have served in the armed forces. It was initially called Armistice Day and celebrated those who died during WWI, but was later amended to include all United States Armed Forces veterans. This is not to be confused with Memorial Day, a day to remember all those who have died in service of the United States.

Both Veterans Day and Memorial Day are important national holidays in America. On Veterans Day, many fast food restaurants and other establishments offer free food for veterans. Although it is a national holiday, not everyone gets a day off for Veterans Day.

The official holiday is November 11th, but organizations who observe the holiday give a day off regardless of whether it falls on a weekday or weekend. If it falls on a Saturday, it is observed on the previous Friday, while Veterans Day's that fall on Sunday are celebrated the following day.
