The Unabomber's brother got a $1 million reward for turning in Ted Kaczynski. What happened to the money?

Ted Kaczynski killed multiple people in his bombing campaign from 1978 to 1995. He would plant or mail bombs that he made himself. His intended victims were people involved with modern technology.

As anyone can see, there's not much good to be said about Ted. David, his younger brother, is a different story.

Ted published a manifesto; as a condition for the bombing to stop, Ted demanded that a major newspaper run it, so 'The New York Times' and 'The Washington Post' did.

David recognized the writing style and let the officials know, after having been urged to do so by his wife. He felt pained by getting involved and acting against his brother, but he felt it was the only moral thing to do.

The FBI rewarded David with a $1 million reward for his role in capturing his brother, a.k.a. The Unabomber. After taking care of his legal expenses, David heroically gave a large chunk of the money to the Unabomber's victims.

Nowadays, David is active in running a Buddhist monastery in upstate New York . . . About the least likely occupation one imagines for the brother of a terrorist. He has also written an essay about his relationship with his infamous brother.
