An executive introduced Bill Gates to a game and beat Bill 35 out of 37 times. You won't believe the score when they met again

Bill Gates obviously knows a thing or two about success. His personality has influenced the way he does business, but did you know that it also can be seen in the way he deals with his coworkers?


An executive, Fred Thorlin, tells a revealing story that illustrates the point. When they met in Albuquerque, he wanted to introduce Gates to a new game; it was easy and took less than a minute to play. The results: Thorlin defeated Gates about 35 out of a total of 37 times.


It was not over, and they don’t call Bill Gates a genius for nothing. The next time Thorlin and Gates met, Thorlin was the clear loser. In between their matches, Gates had studied the game so as to achieve a mastery of it. “That is a competitor,” Thorlin correctly said. Only a month had passed, and Gates either won or tied every single game in the second round.


Evidently, Gates has a strong will and takes strategy very seriously, whether it’s in friendly competition, or in the rough world of business. For instance, he is known to be confrontational and critical towards others who he feels are bound to make great mistakes or take risks that are too big.
