"Uncopywritable" is the longest English word that doesn't repeat a letter. Here are some other surprising facts about English!

The English language is a strange thing. For native English speakers, the language obviously feels natural, but for people trying to get to grips with the subtleties of the words in the language, it can seem anything but natural.

Aside from the usual problems with words that are spelt the same, but can be pronounced differently depending on the context, there are the rather arbitrary rules about the spelling of words. For instance something that can be replaced is "replaceable," while something that can be changed is "changeable," however, something you can write is "writable" spelt without the "e."

While we are on the oddities of the English language, here are a few more strange and interesting facts about English words. The word "underground" is the only word to start and end with "und," while you will find no words in English that rhyme with "month," "sliver," "orange" and "purple." Incidentally too, the word "rhythm" is the longest word containing no vowels and "queue" is the only word that still sounds the same when you remove the last three vowels.

Then, finally, the word "uncopywritable," although debated as to whether it is a real word or not, is the longest word that can be written without repeating a letter.
