It pays to do some homework when choosing a potential victim for your crime. This is something three Colombian criminals got horribly wrong when they tried to kidnap the family of Bernardo Tobar.
Tobar, a 22 year old expert marksman, was on the way home from the target range when he and his family were confronted by gun toting criminals blocking the road. Fearing the worst, Tobar grabbed his .22 calibre target pistol and dispatched two of the three attackers.
Tobar was later cleared of any wrong doing as the shooting was deemed self-defense.
A little bit of background checking would have revealed Tobar, who was training for the upcoming Olympic games, was also the son of a Colombian olympic marksman. Probably not the best family to try and hold up at gunpoint!
