Stealing someone's garden gnome may seem like a mean prank, but what if you eventually return it? And with pictures of the gnome's travels around the world?

Apparently, people steal a garden gnomes and then take them on their travels. They then photograph the gnome at cool locations. When they return, they return the gnome back to its rightful owners along with photographs of its adventures.

The most famous case was in the spring of 2005 when pranksters took a gnome on a trip to California. It was photographed with Paris Hilton and in Hollywood, Las Vegas and San Francisco. Pictures were published in People Magazine and the gnome's owner was interviewed by Good Morning America.
