The Ig Nobel Prizes is an annual event that takes place at Harvard University's Sanders Theatre.

The event is a parody of the Nobel Prize awards ceremony, and awards are given to real scientists that have conducted odd or absurd experiments, often for research that makes people laugh, but also makes them think.

In 2013, winners included Arturas Zuokas, the mayor of Vilnius, Lithuania. Zuokas won his award "for demonstrating that the problem of illegally parked cars can be solved by running them over with an armored tank."

Zuokas won the award after making a video in which he actually crushed a luxury car with a tank in order to demonstrate that drivers should not block bike lanes in Vilnius. Zuokas even showed up to receive his Ig Nobel Prize in person!
