Twister has been creating awkward sexual tension since 1965, when it was first released to the public.
However, it didn't catch on - at all. A lot of people thought that the game was too promiscuous to be considered an enjoyable party game.
Critics called the game "sex in a box". You have to remember, this was around the time that girls wearing skirts that didn't go past the knee were considered 'provocative' and 'too inappropriate.'
Just imagine how they would have reacted to Miley Cyrus twerking at the Video Music Awards
It wasn't until Johnny Carson, in 1966, played the party game on his television show with famous actress Zsa Zsa Gabor.
Within a few spins of the Twister wheel, and awkward body contact was created, the members of the audience were in hysterics. Twister then went on to sell 3 million copies the next year.
On behalf of all of us who played Twister with that allowed us to get close to that one person we had a crush on, thank you Johnny Carson. You saved Twister.
