Tom Joyner is a nationally syndicated radio show. He became the biggest star in black radio in the 1990s when nationally syndicated radio shows became a trend.
Perhaps the most fascinating thing about his career was how dedicated he was to the 2 shows he hosted every day before he became syndicated: A morning show in Dallas and an afternoon show in Chicago.
He would wake up at 3am, have breakfast by 4 and was on the air in Dallas at 5:30. His Dallas show ended at 9. He would then fly to Chicago by 10 and be on the air from 2-6pm. Then, he'd fly back to Dallas at 10pm, have dinner with his wife by 11:30 and in bed by midnight.
The hectic schedule didn't hurt him at all. Within 3 years, both his shows were in first place of their time slots. He did them both for 8 years and logged over 7 million frequent flyer miles. The airline retired 2 seats in his honor and gave them to him for use in his radio station!
