A band with a huge following decided to only charge $5 for their concerts!

Fugazi formed in 1987 after the big punk phase in America. They're described as "post hard-core." Their members include guitarists and vocalists Ian MacKaye and Guy Picciotto, drummer Brendan Canty and bassist Joe Lally.

While successful (they produced 6 studio albums and a film), they were known for their contempt for the music industry and preferred to run their band and business themselves.

They worked to cut costs while touring, and didn't want to charge high prices for their tickets. They saw this as price gouging and depriving their fans access to their music.

So Fugazi decided they would charge $5 for tickets instead. While some tours got up to $10-$15, they always sought to keep prices down. They also found unconventional places to perform. By doing so, they avoided touring boredom and encouraged their fans to be different.
