Ryan Gosling got his role in The Notebook because the director thought he was ugly and uncool!
Ryan Gosling didn’t get his role in The Notebook because of his pretty face; he actually got it because director Nick Cassavetes thought he lacked conventional sex appeal. He told Gosling the following: “I want you to play this role because you’re not like the other young actors out there in Hollywood. You’re not handsome, you’re not cool, you’re just a regular guy who looks like a bit nuts.”
Of course now, plenty of people disagree with Cassavetes. There are hoards of tumblr blogs dedicated to the celebration of Gosling’s face. However nonetheless, Gosling fans everywhere should be thankful for Cassavetes’ poor judgment as The Notebook role launched Gosling’s career.
