Every year, Ikea prints 3 times as many catalogues as Bibles are printed in the whole world!

Ikea's first catalogue was published in 1951 in Sweden. In 2010, Ikea printed 197 million catalogues in twenty languages and sixty-one editions. The Ikea catalogues are their main source of marketing, taking up 70 percent of the marketing budget. They print three times as many Bibles are printed each year.

The printing mostly happens in Sweden at their 8,000 square meter print shop, which is the largest printing studio in Northern Europe. The catalogue is printed on chlorine-free paper of 10–15% post-consumer waste. Retail isn't the only thing Ikea is doing anymore. In August 2012, the company announced that it will establish a chain of 100 economy hotels in Europe.

Unlike it's few existing hotels in Scandinavia, they will not carry the IKEA name, nor will they use IKEA furniture and furnishings. They will be operated by an unnamed international group of hoteliers. Ikea owns and operates 332 stores in 38 countries. They were named one of the top 100 best stores for mothers.
