When such a tragic even such as 9/11 occurs, the wounds may never actually heal. So many lives were lost that day that the repercussions will be felt for generations to come.
As recent as 2013 the Wall Street firm Cantor Fitzgerald finally settled some litigation against American Airlines—for allowing terrorists on the plane.
Why would this Wall Street firm decide to sue American Airlines? The company lost 658 of their nearly 1,000 employees when the plane hit the north tower. The company had many of their employees working from within the World Trade Center.
Cantor Fitzgerald accused American Airlines of negligence for allowing the terrorists to board their plane in Boston.
The firm finally settled for a total of $135 million.
Though no monetary good could possibly replace or make up for the loss of life, its nice that some compensation for such a blow to the company could be had.
