This adorable, inseparable pair, a blind, elderly Jack Russell named Glen and Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Buzz, are more than the best of friends. Glen, who is permanently blind, gets around with the help of Buzz, who acts as his “seeing-eye dog.” He never goes anywhere without him.
The duo were found abandoned together in a sea tunnel a few weeks ago in Northern England and have stayed together ever since – they grow restless and agitated when separated. They currently reside at the Stray Aid rescue center in Coxhoe, Durham, not far from where they were found in Hartlepool. Glenn follows Buzz wherever he goes, and Buzz helps his blind friend find his food bowl, his kennel at the shelter and his bed, nudging him whenever he veers off-target.
Staff say the unlikely friends, who are believed to be between nine and 10, may have been abandoned because of their age. A rep for the rescue center, Sue Bielby, said the two dogs will need to be re-homed together because they become distressed when apart for even a few minutes. They are hoping to find them a quiet home to live out their days together, preferably with someone who has retired so they don’t have to be alone for hours on end.
