Jay-Z is also a very successful entrepreneur, being the co-founder of Rock-A-Fella records, having a clothing line and running a sports agency called Roc Nation Sports. He is listed in the Forbes list of richest people as having a fortune close on $500 million.
But life was not all roses for Jay Z growing up. Living with his three siblings and being cared for by their single mother in the gang infested neighbourhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, life was tough with Jay Z having to dodge bullets on a regular basis.
Recently however, Jay Z confronted a long time painful memory where he was the source of the bullets and his brother the dodger. Jay Z admitted to shooting his brother for stealing his ring to buy drugs when he was just 12 years old.
Thankfully, his brother survived and refused to press charges, even apologising to Jay Z for his drug induced theft later when Jay Z visited him in hospital.
It’s just as well the siblings were close or things might have turned out very differently for Shawn Corey Carter.
