The founder of Guinness signed a 9000 year lease for his factory!

Guinness is the famed beer of Ireland. Smooth, dark and a bit bitter, it has been around since 1759! This is no doubt due to the shrewd business moves of it's founder, Arthur Guinness.

In 1752, when Guinness was just 27 years old, he inherited 100 pounds from his uncle. He invested this money and soon bought a brewery outside of Dublin. In 1759, he went to the city and set up his own business. As part of that endeavor, he signed a 9,000 lease for the 4-acre brewery with an annual payment of 45 pounds.

Today, Guinness is brewed in around 60 countries and available in nearly 100. It is one of the most popular beers in the world and sells about 1.8 billion pints annually. Looks like it will be around for a while.
