Dr. Pepper was designed to be drunk hot or cold!

Being that it is a traditional soft drink, Dr. Pepper is usually drank cold. Out of a can just out of the fridge or over ice. At one time though, Dr. Pepper was meant to be drank hot. When a sweet, carbonated beverage is heated, it becomes thicker and almost like a cider. Yum.

What could be better on a cold winter's day? It's got it all - sugar, caffeine, and warmth! Hot Dr. Pepper was a marketing move developed in the 1960s to help keep sales up in the winter months. Usually, sales of cold soft drinks decrease significantly during this time.

The hot beverage was most popular in the south and some small towns still serve it hot today. The Dr. Pepper website recommends heating it over a hot stove until 180 degrees and then serving over a thin slice of lemon. Might just have to try it this holiday season.
