M. Night Shymalan is the famed director of thriller films like "The Sixth Sense," "Signs" and "The Village." Some of these films are huge hits (after all, people are still saying "I see dead people."), while others are just not. His most recent film "After Earth" with Will and Jaden Smith was a flop for example.
As you would expect, Shymalan has been both lauded and criticized for his work. He's also been nominated for a number of awards. Some flattering like his Best Director and Best Screenwriter Academy Award nominations for "The Sixth Sense." Others not so much like his Worst Director Golden Raspberry Award for "Lady in the Water."
It's worth noting that the caliber of the flattering awards are much higher than the unflattering ones. However, unfortunately for Shymalan, he has won more awards for bad work than for good. He's won 8 awards for worst director, worst screenplay, worst film, etc.
On the other hand, he has only won 3 good awards - the Bram Stoker Award for Best Screenplay for "The Sixth Sense," the Empire Award for Best Director for "The Sixth Sense," and the Nebula Award for Best Script for "The Sixth Sense."
