Comedian Leo Gallagher has a degree in chemical engineering!

Few people would have guessed that the man whose trademark move is smashing watermelons in front of his audiences also possesses a degree in chemical engineering.

Leo Gallagher grew up in the south and attended the University of Southern Florida where he studied chemical engineering before foregoing a career in math and science to focus on his prop comedy gig.

Although he was repeatedly denied an invitation to the late night comedy circuit, Gallagher continued performing, perfecting his infamous "sledge-o-matic" routine, which parodied the "Vedge-o-matic" infomercials of the 1960's. His legacy was honored in 2004 when Comedy Central named him the 100th best stand-up comedian of all time.
