Coldplay's turned down multi-million dollars contracts just so they don't feel like sellouts!

Coldplay is a great band and is considered among the bests by several people. 'Yellow' was the first hit single from Coldplay.

After a critically acclaimed performance at Glastonbury festival in 1999, the track went straight into the charts at number four. The album this song was taken from, 'Parachutes', went into the album chart at number one just a few weeks later.

In just a few years, Coldplay have been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, and done a great deal of work promoting various charities and humanitarian causes.

'A Rush of Blood to the Head' was released in August 2002, to much critical acclaim and impressive sale figures. Their 2005 album, 'X&Y', also dominated the charts.

Because of it's great popularity, a lot of companies have offered Coldplay money for their songs. Coldplay turned down multi-million dollar contracts from Gatorade, Diet Coke, and Gap, who wanted to use their songs. Their response: "We wouldn't be able to live with ourselves if we sold the songs' meanings like that."
